Monrovia, Liberia & Mumbai, Maharashtra, India | 6th August 2025: Merck Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Merck KGaA Germany, successfully hosted the 7th Edition of the Merck Foundation First Ladies Initiative (MFFLI) Summit 2025 on June 19–20. This impactful global event was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Frank Stangenberg-Haverkamp, Chairman of the Merck Foundation Board of Trustees, and Senator Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation and President of MFFLI. The summit welcomed First Ladies from 14 African and Asian countries as Guests of Honor and Keynote Speakers.
First Ladies Champion Change as Ambassadors of “More Than a Mother”
The summit spotlighted Merck Foundation’s flagship campaign “More Than a Mother”, which advocates for women’s empowerment, fertility support, and education.

Key Achievements: Scholarships, Healthcare, and Girl Education
Merck Foundation has awarded over 2,280 scholarships to young doctors from 52 countries in 44+ critical medical specialties such as oncology, fertility, cardiology, endocrinology, and neonatology.
Additionally, the ‘Educating Linda’ program has supported 950+ underprivileged but high-performing girls across Africa, enabling them to complete their education and pursue brighter futures.
