This collaboration seeks to provide health insurance coverage to over 50,000 Namma Yatri drivers across India by 2026, ensuring greater financial security and well-being.
National, June 9, 2025: Bengaluru-based insurance-tech startup Covrzy has partnered with Namma Yatri, India’s fastest-growing driver-first transportation network, to make affordable health insurance accessible to its drivers and their families. This strategic collaboration integrates embedded health insurance within the Namma Yatri driver-facing app, ensuring seamless access to top-tier insurance products from leading insurers.
Empowering the Gig Economy with Hassle-Free Insurance
The initiative, launching first in Bengaluru, enables auto and cab drivers to easily discover, compare, and purchase tailored health insurance plans through a fully digital process, with instant policy issuance and minimal paperwork. Drivers can also track renewals, access cashless treatment across 10,000+ hospitals, view network hospital directories, and raise claim requests directly via the app.
Expanding Nationwide to Cover 50,000+ Drivers
Covrzy and Namma Yatri aim to reach 3,000+ drivers in Bengaluru over the next few months, with plans to expand the program to 50,000+ drivers across multiple cities, including Kolkata, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, and Kochi, over the next 12-18 months. Namma Yatri is also set to extend operations to 10+ tier 1 and tier 2 cities, ensuring broader access to critical insurance coverage.
Leadership Perspectives
Ankit Kamra, Founder of Covrzy, emphasized the importance of financial protection for gig workers, stating:
“Millions of drivers form the backbone of India’s mobility ecosystem, yet many remain uninsured or underinsured. Our partnership with Namma Yatri aims to bridge this gap by providing accessible, quality health coverage to India’s gig workforce.”
Shan M S, Co-founder of Namma Yatri, highlighted the platform’s commitment to its driver community:
“Empowering our driver-captains starts with ensuring their well-being. Through this collaboration with Covrzy, we’re making health insurance simple, accessible, and tailored to their real needs, reinforcing a fair and transparent driver-first ecosystem.”
Comprehensive Coverage & Awareness Initiatives
Under this initiative, drivers will receive hospitalization benefits of up to ₹3 lakhs, along with OPD wellness support and family floater options to cover spouses and children. To promote adoption, awareness drives will be conducted at auto stands, alongside on-ground helpdesks, in-app guides, and video explainers in regional languages.
