PUSH Sports is thrilled to unveil the Anjum Chopra scholarship, designed to empower and nurture the growth of young and talented female cricketers. The scholarship comprises of financial assistance of INR 1 lac per year for training at PUSH Sports Arenas, as well as the opportunity to participate in exclusive tours both within India and internationally for a period of 12 months. This scholarship will provide aspiring athletes the chance to realize their full potential on and off the field.

Push Sports is focused on advancing Women’s and Girls’ cricket across the country, and the Anjum Chopra Scholarship program is a step further in this direction. The scholarship doesn’t just focus on training and exposure, but also aims to provide the athletes with the best equipment and gear through corporate sponsorships. The scholarship also aims to work on a long-term basis to help guide them towards a successful sports career under the guidance of experienced professionals and mentors.

Ms Anjum Chopra, a Padma Shri and Arjuna Award recipient is a foremost name in women’s cricket. A former captain of the Indian women’s cricket team with an international playing career spanning 17 years, she is a notable face as a broadcaster on television. After playing and now working closely at the grass root and state level Anjum Chopra mentioned that “It is a privilege and pride to be associated with such a scholarship programme.”

On the announcement, Mr. Puru Singh, Founder of Push Sports and former Delhi State player said, “Ms. Anjum Chopra will closely monitor the ten selected athletes herself. Push Sports stands for Passionate Underdog Sports House, and this is a well-thought-out gesture to give a firm push to the young girl/ women players that are training with us.

He mentioned that with financial assistance and accessibility to quality training and coaching facilities, the scholarship would encourage more families to allow girls/ women to take up the game as a profession.

The announcement comes at a time when three female cricketers Ms. Shubhi Sharma and Ms. Ayati Sadotra has been selected to represent Uttar Pradesh Under19 team and Jammu & Kashmir Under15 team, respectively. Also, Ms. Ishika has been selected for the Delhi Women’s Sr. team for the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy for the domestic season 2022-23.
